How i would get better at Chess

This is how I would get better at chess. In this post I will detail how I got to 2000 Elo on Chess.com and the process I need to improve even more from that level. But what exactly did I do to achieve this rating? Imagine you are going to start lifting weights. When you begin, you can only, for the sake of simplicity, lift 10 kg of weights, and any weights higher than that are too much for you to handle. After a few months of continuous practice with the 10 kg weights, you will recognize that it takes less effort to lift the 10 kg dumbbells in comparison to before, so you decide to increase the weight to 15 kg. After 10 years of this growth, you are lifting 60 kg dumbbells, a weight your past self probably couldn't even lift a centimeter. This way of getting stronger has quite a catchphrase: Progressive overload When lifting weights, you always want to pick the dumbbells with a weight that has just the right amount of difficulty. Not too hard, not too easy. Imagine using 1 kg dumbb...

Leela plays the Kings Indian Defense! #1

Bilde
I am about to show you guys a game between Leela and Leela where both sides calculate only 50 moves / nodes deep per move. This means Leela must rely more on its intuition rather than its calculation abilities. Lets go! d4 Nf6 c4 g6 Nc3 Bg7. This was a setup opening. I have the temperature turned on for the first few moves so that Leela doesn't always play the same line over and over again. White to play Let's start with the game! 1. e4 gains central space, prepares to develop the bishop, and threatens e5. d6 2. Be2!? Stops Ng4 and maybe some Bg4 pin lines. c5!  White to move In any position, you must ask yourself about the imbalances of the position. Black played c5 in order to open up the diagonal for the g7 bishop and hopes to get some attack against those pawns long-term. If you play dxc5, then Qa5! is a strong response for Black, threatening the e4 pawn and simultaniously preparing Qxc5. A sample line would be Qc2 Nxe4! Qxe4 Bxc3 Kf1 Be5, where Black is very solid. White d...

10 Creative Italian Game Concepts from Leela

Bilde
I have analyzed many Leela games for the past few months, and today I wanted to share with you 10 simple strategical ideas from actual Leela Chess Zero games! Idea #1 The position is relatively closed. Both sides want to play for the central pawn push, but because of Black's activity in the center (Nf6, Bc5 and Nc6) White has trouble getting d4 to work and not just lose a pawn. Now Leela plays quite a common idea from the Italian you have probably seen before. Re1! White aims for Nf1-Ng3, where d4 will be a threat. The knight can also hop into f5 together with Nh4 in some positions, too. Ba7 Black retreats from the d4 pawn break, which now won't come with a tempo on the bishop.  Bb3! (if Nf1, Bxc4 and White gets doubled pawns and probably just loses e4)  Nd7 Nf1 Bxb3!  Qxb3 Nc5 Black is getting his own activity! Qc2 d5! Black managed to get quite a pawn center here! Now Black wants to meet Ng3 with dxe4 dxe4 Qd3! where White will have a passive position.  Be3 played,...
